In 1950, Nicolaas (Nick) Quint founds a trading company for small baby products in The Hague The Netherlands.
Subsequently he starts importing renowned European brands. In the 60s, Nick Quint introduces his own label of (baby) care products: Quinny! Quint buys a leading Dutch manufacturer of wooden playpens and extends the collection with textiles and baby room decoration. The team soon needs more people: enter Quint’s sons Peter, Dick en Mark. Now a family business, Quinny starts focusing on product development and innovation. In 1989, the first Quinny buggies and strollers hit the streets.
In 1997 the sporty, foldable Jogger is Quinny’s international breakthrough. Better styling and colouring, combined with inflatable tyres, put Quinny ahead of the competition. Quinny earns a considerable market share in Europe and is now an established lifestyle brand. After joining the Dorel group in 2001, the stroller segment is restructured and Quinny becomes a leading stroller brand with global distribution.
The 2004 launch of the Buzz stroller and Zapp buggy signal the start of the Quinny brand as we know it today: strollers that are designed with the urban, stylish parent in mind.
Zapp enters the stage as the most compact buggy at that time and the Buzz introduces a remarkable auto unfolding system. These innovations, combined with the futuristic design and styling, completely shake up the stroller market. Building on the success of the Buzz and Zapp, Quinny continues to launch several ranges, each with their own signature style.
In 2008, Quinny teams up with upcoming Danish designer Henrik Vibskov to create the revolutionary limited edition 'Quinny by Henrik Vibskov‘. The extent of the collaboration is unique: rather than a one-off stroller design, Vibskov develops an entire range of items for mum and child. Equally unique, Vibkov’s worldwide fashion runway shows are used as launch pads for the Quinny strollers and accessories.
During the past few years the Quinny family has grown strongly with the introduction of Zapp Xtra, Moodd and Yezz.
These products express the innovative design and material use the brand stands for, which resulted in several design and innovation awards such as the Reddot and IF award for the Yezz. Quinny strollers offer parents the support to take on the challenge of urban life and travel with their child. During these years Quinny gave special attention to developing limited editions for parents with an appetite for fashion.
In 2009 our black and white edition hit the streets; in which Quinny was the first offering all-black strollers. More recently, in 2011, Quinny Design was introduced, the first editions inspired by the urban nomad style of contemporary, young professionals that are always on the move. They explore the big city and experience multicultural urban living firsthand.
